Courses at Montpellier (Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences - AgroParisTech-ENGREF, France)
Second Year

Programme specifications for the “Environmental management and policies for tropical forests” specialisation

The programme is organized by the Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences (AgroParisTech), School of Forestry, Agricultural and Environmental Engineering (ENGREF).

The main educational aims of the programme are:
- to graduate individuals who (1) have a thorough understanding of the interactions between human and biophysical processes that drive structure and functioning of tropical forests from the local to global scales, and (2) are able to implement or appraise environmental actions targeted at tropical forest ecosystems;
- to develop students' (1) intellectual and practical skills in thematic fields while referring to methodological and conceptual frameworks, and (2) behavioural aptitudes for communication, dialog, negotiation, information sharing, interpersonal / teamwork and self management;
- to equip students for a career in environmental management and policies requiring an ability to synthesise concepts and ideas and to take an holistic view.

Language requirements: although some teaching material and lectures may be provided in English and although the thesis may be written and defended in English or Spanish, most lectures are provided in French. Applicants who plan to specialise at Montpellier must thus either demonstrate their French proficiency with either a test result in French (Delf - B2 level or TEF>500), a strong commitment to attend French courses during their first year at Sutrofor on a regular basis, or that they hold a first degree that has been conducted in French.
