The thesis will deal with environmental, tropical issues in natural ecosystems or within cropping systems including tree as a major component. Preparation, including discussions with AgroParisTech-ENGREF partners from research (CIRAD, IRD, INRA…) and education (Montpellier Supagro) institutions of the Agropolis campus of Montpellier, as well as bibliographic will be made throughout the first semester (depending on the optional modules the student will attend or not). Fieldwork should last at least 5 months and be achieved preferably in the tropical area. The thesis project will be evaluated by teaching staff and supervisor within Module 9 (Research plan). The thesis is defended at a public seminar. Thesis content, defence quality and behaviour during field training are evaluated.
